UNMIK informed Kosovo Police about Thaçi’s arrest (RTK)

Deputy Director of the Kosovo Police, Naim Rexha, is reporting on Nehat Thaçi’s arrest to the Kosovo Assembly Committee for internal affairs, security and supervision of the Kosovo Security Force. “On 28 September, at around 00:10, a person reported the case of the arrest of the official Nehat Thaçi during his entrance in Serbia. According to him, the lieutenant-colonel crossed the border at 20:10 hours. “Thaçi was on authorized leave for five days. According to the family members, he planned to go to Switzerland and Germany. He was wearing civilian clothes and he was in a private vehicle,” said Rexha. “After his arrest, UNMIK in Kosovo was also informed. The Serbian state did not inform the Kosovo Police about Nehat Thaçi, but they did this through the UNMIK mission,” he said. Rexha added that the arrest warrant for Thaçi was issued in 2010, while this was the first time he entered Serbia. He told the Assembly committee that the Police Director, Shpend Maxhuni is not ignoring the Assembly committee, and explained that he is currently abroad. Kosovo Assembly MP from the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Daut Haradinaj, assessed that Kosovo Police should not become politicized due to Thaçi’s case, and that they should continue implementing the law.
