European Language Day: Learn foreign languages, it will help (Kontakt plus radio, KIM radio)
On the occasion of the European Day of Languages, a conference was held in Pristina on the importance of learning foreign languages.
"If we do not speak Albanian, we will not be able to integrate fully. The same goes for the Albanians," said Slavisa Mladenovic, a language commissioner.
The Office of the Language Commissioner, in cooperation with the French Alliance and the French Embassy in Kosovo, organized a debate on the importance of learning foreign languages.
"And without any Serb in Kosovo, for Albanians, due to regional circumstances, the integration of the Serbian language into the education system would be very useful. This also applies to Serbs. In Belgrade there is a department for Albanian language at the Faculty of Philology, but in the south of Serbia, young people do not learn Albanian. That's not good. We are 'forced' to live, if not together, then one beside other. Due to this fact, we are forced to learn the language of each other," Mladenovic said.
Journalist and TV producer Alba Morina taught the Serbian language with the help of You Tube and Google Translator. She said that her knowledge of the Serbian language was a great plus for her work.
