“Belgrade to outline what is measure of compromise” (RTS)
The weeks ahead are crucial for Pristina’s decision on the tariffs, Centre for Foreign Policy Director Dragan Djukanovic told RTS. He added Belgrade at this moment should fortify its position and outline what it expects to be a measure of a compromise.
Djukanovic also expects that in the coming months there would be a significant intensification of Belgrade-Pristina normalization of relations process. He also noted an additional pressure would be exerted on Pristina in order to revoke the tariffs and open the way to continue the dialogue.
Commenting on Kosovo President Hashim Thaci statement that he would resign or call for a referendum if the Kosovo Assembly does not approve agreement with Belgrade by which Kosovo would get three municipalities of central Serbia, Bujanovac, Medvedja and Presevo, Djukanovic said promises are being made easily, however it is difficult to expect and imagine scenario Thaci was talking about.
“Thaci shows certain readiness to continue the dialogue with Belgrade under USA pressure. Haradinaj has a different position and in some circles in the USA he is supported,” Djukanovic said.
He added, he does not expect new elections in Kosovo, since USA would most probably not support it, but rather rearrangements within the Assembly and a new prime minister.
