McAllister: It is the most important that Belgrade and Pristina return at negotiation table (RTS, RTV)

The European Union has mediated and will continue doing so in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, European Parliament Rapporteur for Serbia David McAllister told the Radio Television of Vojvodina. He made these remarks after asked to comment on the EU Hight Representative Federica Mogherini statement that the final agreement between Belgrade and Pristina would have to be supported by the UN Security Council. He noted it is the most important now that Belgrade and Pristina return at the negotiation table. “Of course, it makes sense that other powers of the Security Council, such as Russia and US be involved in a political debate on how to move ahead. It has been always an EU policy. We always discuss with the powers outside of the EU. What we would like to see at the end is a sustainable solution acceptable to the both sides,” McAllister stressed. Slovenian member of the European Parliament, Tanja Fajon said when it comes to the negotiation process she has full trust in Federica Mogherini. “I know that Belgrade-Pristina dialogue is important not only to Mogherini, but to the entire EU. I am certain she wants to conclude the end of her mandate with a positive story, not only because it is high on the EU agenda, but also because of people from both sides to be able to live normally,” Fajon noted. She also urged for the continuation of a dialogue, concluding it is in the interest of the both sides.
