Djuric: Violence against Serbs must be sanctioned the most severely (RTS)

Serbian Government Office for Kosovo and Metohija Director Marko Djuric told RTS this morning that the latest incident in Mitrovica North in which an underage boy was injured indicates that the brutal attacks against the Serbs continue. He also warned that the violence against the Serbs must be immediately and the most severely sanctioned.

Speaking for the RTS morning news edition, Djuric said that Belgrade for years patiently and persistent warns representatives of the international community in Kosovo that the Ibar bridge was a scene of more than 900 intrusions and attacks against the Serb-majority populated northern part of Mitrovica.

“We are telling them if you do not want scenarios from Pristina, Djakovica, Prizren and areas where there are no Serbs any more to be repeated in Mitrovica North then do not even think to impose any solution that the local community does not accept. Any solution must be exclusively in the agreement with the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija,” Djuric underlined.

Commenting on the latest incident near the main bridge on the Ibar River, Djuric said it is yet another brutal attack against the Serbs in Kosovo and an attempt to intimidate and expel the Serbs from Mitrovica North. He added it is necessary that the security structures react urgently and find the perpetrators.

Speaking about upcoming elections in Kosovo, Djuric noted that Serbs should participate united and unified gathered around Srpska Lista.

“May there be no divisions, nor to listen to those who want to profit and make benefits in a political sense, but that we all stand united, around Srpska Lista and for unity with the state of Serbia (…),” Djuric concluded.
