Germany will not set new requirements for Serbia (Press,Tanjug)

BELGRADE - Germany is not setting new requirements for Serbia's EU integration, member of the Bundestag Josip Juratovic has said, adding that the agreements signed by the EU are well thought out and are not changes according to anyone's whim.

Germany is a partner that can always be counted on to make the maximum effort to implement whatever has been agreed, Juratovic told the Blic daily from Belgrade, adding that all the requirements had been known for a long time and were the same as for Slovenia and Croatia.

When asked if Germany would demand that another agreement between Belgrade and Pristina on the normalisation of relations be signed before the EU starts the accession talks with Serbia, he responded that Pristina was the least of Serbia's obstacles, because it also wanted Serbia in the EU, since it would provide an opportunity for Kosovo to get out of isolation.

The political leaders mostly want the Serbian people to also get a realistic opportunity for economic prosperity and social security, he noted.

Serbia has done a lot lately concerning its EU integration, Juratovic underscored.

Besides a serious intention to conduct reforms, it is also necessary to build good relations with neighbours, just as the countries that founded the EU did, he concluded.
