Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Marko Djuric today will visit kindergarten in Zubin Potok, which was built by the Office for Kosovo and Metohija.

The newly constructed kindergarten is located next to the old one and will be able to accommodate 60 children; it was announced by the Office for Kosovo and Metohija.

Djuric will also visit the water system in the construction in Gazivode near Zubin Potok, which will supply the municipalities of Zubin Potok, Zvecan and Mitrovica with drinking water.

The Water system, which construction is funded by the Office for KiM, should solve the problem of water supply which exists in the north of Kosovo for fifteen years.   

Djuric last night for Tanjug said that the Serbian government respects the Albanian people and is responsible for providing a safe life to Serbian people in Kosovo and to this end will endeavour to resolve the decades-long conflict with the Albanians.

"We have very great respect for the Albanian people and, despite decades of conflicts that are behind us, it is our responsibility to work on this and provide a secure life in the future for our people in Kosovo and Metohija," he said yesterday to Tanjug on the side-lines of the fourth Belgrade Security Forum.

Referring to the panel in which he took part last night (Serbs and Albanians in 2025 as friends and allies: How to do it?) he said very serious problems of our people in Kosovo were discussed.

"We talked about the fact that Serbia does not change its policy to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity, and at the same time wants to strengthen the position of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija through participation in provincial institutions," said Djuric.

According to him, even though we disagree on the status, and it is possible that for generations we will not agree, that does not mean that there is not much benefit and a lot of common interests that we can find if there is a readiness for such an understanding of things.

"At the same time, I said that as long as we have politicians who, in this case on the Pristina side, insist only on imposing status and place status issue in front of everyday topics, we cannot expect a lot of good," he said.

This is why Djuric expressed great expectation of future partners in the provincial government to, whoever will be sitting in the government, to have this kind of approach that, instead of repeatedly speaking about status, even when it comes to everyday life, license plates and other things, leave the question of the status for a major political talks and for "who knows when and who knows at what place" discussions.

"We need to focus on what is vital to our people in Kosovo and Metohija," said Djuric.

He also said that tonight on the panel he was not able to say something that is considered very important, and that is that Serbia this year, remembers Esad Pasha Toptani, the celebrated Allied Commander and the First Minister of the Interior, Defence and later Prime Minister of Albania from beginning of the 20th century.

According to him, Esad Pasha Toptani was a great Serbian ally and friend, who protected Serbian army in retreat across Albania with his gendarmes from gangs, and following the Serbian king and the government continued to wage war on the Serbian side, and on the Salonika front.

"The example I like to cite today with the intention to illustrate that not all in our history was bad, and that in our future, in contrast to the present and the past, not everything has to be black," concluded the Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija.
