Dignitaries condemn vandalism in Decani Monastery (Blic, Tanjug)
BELGRADE - Dignitaries of the main religious communities in Kosovo condemned the recent acts of vandalism in the Decani Monastery.
They agreed that these despicable acts, followed also by some web attacks, were sought to undermine the inviolable principles of tolerance and reconciliation in Kosovo society.
Bishop Teodosije of Prizren and Raska of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC), Mufti Ternava, head of the Islamic Community, and Ljus Djerdi of the Roman Catholic Church strongly condemned all the fundamentalism which is currently affecting the safety and the security of all people worldwide.
The dignitaries met on Wednesday with KFOR Commander Major General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo in Pristina, KFOR released in a statement.
During the meeting they discussed how all religious communities can contribute in cultivating friendly interactions among the people of Kosovo and help create an environment conducive to building peace, respect and tolerance in the region.
All parties reaffirmed their commitment to promoting religious tolerance and expressed appreciation for all the efforts that have been made so far in this regard.
They called on all their fellow believers to take distance from those who do not practice values of peace and religious tolerance in order to create a better future for Kosovo, the statement reads.
