Rasic: Jablanovic should resign (Blic,Beta)

Kosovo parliament MP, and former minister for labor and social welfare, Nenad Rasic said last night that Minister for Communities and Return, Aleksandar Jablanovic, should resign on moral grounds.

“Jablanovic’s statement had upset many Albanians,” said Rasic to Pristina-based TV Klan and added that he should also resign due to everything that followed, including protests.

Rasic is the only Serb MP in the Kosovo parliament, one out of ten, that is not coming from the Serbian List. He is coming from the Progressive Democratic Party, which was established by him soon after he left the Independent Liberal Party (SLS).

Kosovo opposition parties demand resignation of Jablanovic after he called ‘the 'savages’ protestors in  Đakovica/Gjakovë, who stoned a bus with displaced Serbs visiting the town and monastery on the Christmas Eve. Amongst the protesters were and mothers of Albanians who were killed during the conflict in 1999, who were insulted with his statement. Soon after, protests were staged due to Jablanovic’s statement and dissatisfaction grew stronger after Pristina authorities decided to postpone the transformation of Trepca mining complex into a public enterprise.

Rasic assessed that Trepca should be discussed in Brussels and said that instead of politicians, meeting between Trepca representatives from the north and south should take place with the mediation of international experts. “That is the only way to resolve the problems,” claims Rasic.
