The Serbian List: Edi Rama’s statement a threat to Serbs, EU to condemn it (Politika)
The Serbian List has condemned today’s statement of the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama on ‘national unification of Kosovo and Albania’ and described it as a threat to Serbs and other non-Albanians in Kosovo. The Serbian List requested EU to condemn the nationalistic statement of Rama and added that such statements are not leading toward reconciliation of peoples in Balkans.
The Serbian List further stated that joint session of governments of Albanian and provisional government in Pristina, instead of contributing to improving situation in the region it unfortunately clearly showed nationalistic aspirations of Albanians and disrespect of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 which is the highest legal act in Kosovo and Metohija.
“Territory of Kosovo and Metohija is not populated only by Albanians, but big number of other nations as well who don’t share such opinion presented by the Albanian prime minister, and they request EU to sharply condemn such nationalist statement, first of all because it doesn’t’ lead toward reconciliation of nations in Balkans and because it comes from two parties which are not EU members, whereas Kosovo is not even recognized by all EU member states,” reads the statement.
“Statement of the Albanian prime minister that signing of agreements between Albania and Kosovo in Tirana presents ‘national unification through European Union’ brings unrest amongst the citizens of Kosovo and Metohija who are not of Albanian nationality,” reads the statement of the Serbian List signed by its leader Aleksandar Jablanovic.
