Word ‘genocide’ postponed decision on the special court (KIM Radio)

Reason behind the postponement of the Kosovo parliament’s session dedicated to the law on the special court is word ‘genocide’, which is included in the draft law on the special court upon the insistence of certain EU states, said advisor to the Minister of Justice in the Kosovo government Driton Lajci.

Kosovo has a bad experience with international courts, with UNMIK and EULEX judiciary and because of that it requested clarification about how will all cases be reviewed and how will they be processed eventually, said Lajci to TV Klan Kosovo.

The director of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Djuric today reflected on the postponement of the Kosovo parliament’s session on special court and said that there must not be escape from justice.

“Serbia firmly stands behind the creation of the special court. There is no, and should not be, escape from justice, war crimes don’t have statute of limitation. Those who are responsible should be brought to the justice,” said Djuric to Tanjug, and added that it is necessary that Kosovo parliament deals with this issue as soon as possible.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo Branimir Stojanovic expressed his regret following the postponement of the Kosovo parliament’s session on the special court.

According to him Kosovo doesn’t want extradition to be the part of the agreement with the Netherlands, and that one part of the special court is based in Pristina. Stojanovic also said that the special court is not only important for Kosovo Serbs, but equally important to Albanians as well. He voiced his regret that many don’t understand that and said that it is not possible to have the normal society unless special court punishes those responsible for most terrible crimes.
