Kirby: Vucic's visit to USA very successful (Tanjug)
US Ambassador in Belgrade Michael Kirby stated that the visit of Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic to the United States was very successful, in both political and business terms.
Kirby told Radio and Television of Serbia that Washington is not asking Belgrade to disrupt its relations with Russia.
He also said one of the results of Vucic's visit is the news that on June 11 General Electrics will have a meeting with Serbian companies that want to produce parts for them, while in the longer term, a more serious cooperation with Freeport McMoRan, a U.S.-based company investing in copper, could be established.
Asked whether US support for Serbia's European integration is unconditional, Kirby stressed that Washington is not asking Belgrade to impair its relations with Russia or not have any kind of relations at all.
When it comes to US support, the answer is: yes, you have our political support. When you ask me if it is unconditional, I have to tell you we want to support you, but you have to do your homework as well, he noted.
This implies progress in the rule of law, the fight against corruption, efforts to make justice swifter and more transparent and resolving some issues with Kosovo, Kirby said.
