Braathu: Kosovo Police most trusted institution (KIM Radio)
A two-day regional conference on community policing and establishment of the Security Forum has kicked-off in Pristina today. Norwegian Ambassador to Kosovo Jan Braathu said that Kosovo Police is the most trusted institution by inhabitants of Kosovo, whereas Serb representatives claim that the trust would be even higher if there would be more Serbs in the Kosovo Police.
International experts and representatives of the countries from the region are participating in the work of the conference, whereas delegation from Serbia will join the conference tomorrow.
“The poll from 2014 shows that Kosovo Police is most trusted Kosovo institutions. It enjoys bigger trust than EULEX. KFOR was ranked on the top, whereas EU was ranked the second. This shows that Kosovo Police is developing partnership with all inhabitants and that it is a step away from offering professional services, what is evidence that the work is focused on community,” said Braathu.
The head of the OSCE mission in Kosovo Jean-Claude Schlumberger said that main task of the community policing and Security Forum is to offer safe environment for all, what can be only reached if there is trust.
The chairperson of the Local Security Council in Gračanica/Graçanicë Snežana Jovanović stressed that the trust in Kosovo Police would be even higher if there would be more Serbs working in police.
The organizer of the regional conference is OSCE mission in Kosovo.
