Decision of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo on temporary suspension of the Brussels Agreement could be expected and it shows that Pristina took very hard the failure of ‘UNESCO operation’, stated leader of the Civic Initiative SDP Oliver Ivanovic.

Ivanovic said to Tanjug that failure of Kosovo’s bid to win membership in UNESCO has hit hard already fragile structures and institutions in Pristina, thus control of situation is carried out with postponing the implementation of the Brussels Agreement, that is, part of it which refers to the Association/Community of Serb municipalities. “Brussels Agreement is mandatory obligation deriving from the legislation and it is part of the Stabilization Association Agreement which official Pristina ratified with the European Union. It is hard to imagine that decision of the Constitutional Court could be negative with regard to Brussels Agreement and the A/CSM, because it would provoke harsh reaction of the EU and US, what Albanians won’t allow to themselves,” explained Ivanovic.

Ivanovic stressed that decision of the Constitutional Court, upon initiative of the Kosovo president Atifete Jahjaga, on suspension of the Brussels Agreement will calm down the opposition and relax the atmosphere in Pristina, and added that final decision must come by mid-December.
