Stojanovic: Kosovo could become a center of religious extremism (RTS)
Influence of religion and religious leaders is huge in Kosovo said the Chairperson of the Serbian Parliament’s Committee for Coordination of Security Services, Momir Stojanoivc, to RTS. He reflected on yesterday’s arrest of Kosovo Albanians in the vicinity of Visoki Decani Monastery and said that this confirms what has being known for a long time, that Kosovo could become the center of religious extremism in the Western Balkan region.
“There are various reasons behind this. It is a well known fact that society in Kosovo is by nature monolithic and unique in comparison with other communities of the Western Balkans and that the influence of religion and religious Islamic community leaders in Kosovo is much higher than in the Raska-Polimlje region (Serbia proper) or on B&H territory,” said Stojanovic.
Four Kosovo Albanians in possession of ammunition Islamic literature were arrested on Saturday night around 9 p.m. Their vehicle was searched in a joint effort by Kosovo Police and KFOR in the vicinity of the Visoki Decani Monastery.
