Patriotic block to launch petition requesting local Serbian elections in Kosovo (KoSSev)
In spite of the predictions and speculations on elections in Serbia made so far, they have not been called yet. In their speculations, politicians have made it clear that parliamentary elections, once they have been called, will be organized in Kosovo and Metohija, following the exact method used in 2014 when they were facilitated by the OSCE.
Local elections in Serbian settlements, including northern Kosovo were organized in 2013, and in 2014, but they were organized by the ‘Republic of Kosovo’, and they were organized for the first time with Belgrade’s support. Serbian opposition political parties are preparing to launch a petition asking Serbian authorities to call Serbian local elections on the territory of Kosovo and Metohija, and reminded that local elections have been organized here from 2008 to 2013, and that their constitutional right has been abolished by Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic.
They also recalled the UNSC Resolution 1244 which states, according to them, that Kosovo and Metohija are part of Serbia, and that by calling and organizing elections in Kosovo, Belgrade would show that Kosovo belongs to Serbia. “Unfortunately for Aleksandar Vucic, Kosovo and Metohija is not Serbia,” communicated the Patriotic block, which did not provide details about how and when this petition would be launched.
