Spahiu: Without shedding light on crimes Kosovo can’t progress (Kontakt Plus Radio)
With the election of Hashim Thaci for the President of Kosovo there are no more obstacles for the special court for Kosovo Liberation Army crimes to start its work, claims political analyst Nedzmedin Spahiu and stresses that without shedding a light on crimes Kosovo can’t progress.
Spahiu further said that special court should become operational soon and that all formalities have been accomplished “thus, nothing depends on Kosovo any more”. He believes that the first indictments will be raised in the first half of the year. He reminded that numerous politically motivated executions happen in Kosovo and that all these crimes are holding the whole Kosovo society hostage. Spahiu went on to say that without shedding light on these crimes and war crimes, Kosovo society can’t move forward.
It is very important that the special court carries out its work in due manner rather than in the superficial manner of UNMIK and EULEX, that both compromised themselves by entering into corrupt relations with the local authorities, said Spahiu.
According to sources in the Kosovo Ministry of Foreign Affairs the special court should become operational in September, following recent ratification of the agreement on international cooperation with Netherlands on the organization of a special court for Kosovo relocated to the Netherlands.
