Even after 18 years no truth about kidnapped miners from Belaćevac (Kontakt Plus Radio)
Family members and the Association of Families of Kidnapped and Missing Persons from Kosovo marked today the 18th anniversary of the first mass kidnapping of Serbs in Kosovo, by laying of wreaths at the "Memorial of Truth" in Mitrovica north. On that day were kidnapped the workers of Belaćavac pit mine, which was part of the Electro Industry of Serbia (EPS). The coordinator of the Association of Families of Kidnapped and Missing Persons from Kosovo and Metohija Milorad Trifunović said that even after 18 years families don’t know the truth about the missing workers.
On 22 June 1998, nine EPS workers were kidnapped including one person that should start working that day. In total, 57 EPS workers were killed in Kosovo and 27 workers were kidnapped. Members of the families of the kidnapped and missing who gathered today at the "Monument of Truth" carried posters with pictures of the missing as well as a banner that read "57 killed and 27 kidnapped workers of EPS – Is anyone responsible?".
