Journalists’ associations of Serbia react on Srpska Lista boycott of KoSSev portal (Insajder, KoSSev portal)
Association of Independent Journalists of Serbia (NUNS) and Associations of Journalists of Serbia (UNS) called yesterday upon the leadership of Srpska Lista to refrain from discrimination of the media and to respect the standards of the international conventions on the freedom of the media while communicating with journalists.
Srpska Lista without explanation has decided to boycott an informative portal KoSSev, stated NUNS. adding that Srpska Lista did not invite the portal at its first election convention.
The Association further stated it expects from Srpska Lista to act in line with its publicly declared aim “protection of the right to information, from its Platform on 12 May 2017.
Meanwhile, UNS stated, referring to the claims of the KosSev portal editor that this portal stopped receiving invitations since the end of May with one exception only on 9th June, when portal received information that Sprska Lista was fined over its pre-electoral video spot.
At the same time portal KoSSev stopped receiving invitations to the municipal structures’ events and events of the department of the Interim Council of Mitrovica Municipality, the press release said.
Slavko Simic, answering to the question of a KoSSev portal editor, why the portal was not invited to attend the first election session of Srpska Lista, said yesterday that KoSSev portal with its editorial policy declared it deals with the local issues only while the election session of the Srpska Lista exceeds the level KoSSev is dealing with, therefore they it did not find it necessary to inform the portal on activities planned for 17th July 2017.
