Wildfire in Osojane Valley (KIM Radio)

Since Saturday, wildfire has affected the Osojane Valley (first organized return site in Kosovo). Wildfire that the firefighters and Serb returnees are fighting for the three days come from several directions.

Firefighters together with returnees managed to extinguish the wildfire that came from the direction of a deserted village Poljane, spread along Tucep-Osojane villages’ line, and was active since Saturday. However, the new wildfire appeared on another side of the village. Firefighters from Istok and Peje/Pec with five vehicles supported by the inhabitants of the Osojane Valley extinguished the wildfire yesterday. Another wildfire that broke out on Sunday was put down in the evening. Two firefighters’ vehicles were on the spot, however, due to inaccessibility of the terrain they managed to extinguish the wildfire only in the evening. Returnees are afraid for their houses and properties. They suspected wildfires are set intentionally year by year to destroy their properties and forest. They also expressed concerns new wildfires would happen again.
