What “hampers” continuation of Belgrade-Pristina dialogue (TV N1, Novosti)
Stalemate in the Brussels dialogue lasts for four and a half months now, TV N1 reported last night. There are no official information neither from Brussels nor from Belgrade or Pristina when the next meeting could take place.
While Belgrade insists that the establishment of the Association of the Serb Municipalities should begin before the new round of negotiations, Pristina is requesting that the Brussels dialogue has a clear time limitation.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, said in July the dialogue in Brussels would continue and Serbia has a month or a month and a half to prepare and then to see how and what way it wishes to continue the dialogue, TV N1 reported.
Lately, Serbian President is saying, however, it is important to start with the establishment of the Association of the Serb Municipalities before the next round of negotiations.
Similar stance has the Chair of the Serbian Parliamentary Board for Kosovo, Milovan Drecun.
While Serbian officials insist on the establishment of the Association of the Serb Municipalities, journalist from Kosovo Budimir Nicic, wonders why Belgrade has started insisting on it only now.
Analyst, Dusan Janjic thinks that insisting on something that is already agreed is not “a wise move”.
“At times when Pristina is forming a unity team, has a political negotiator and an intensive talks with USA, Belgrade with Djuric plays a defensive game. We insist on the past, and neglect the future,” Janjic said.
He also thinks that the time limitation of the dialogue is also dangerous. “Short timeframes block the process and at the end cause conflicts,” Janjic said.
Serbian Government Office for Kosovo Director, Marko Djuric also rejected on Saturday time limitation of the Brussels dialogue.
In a statement to Novosti daily, Marko Djuric said that he “expects officials from Pristina to fulfil their obligations and think about how to start working with the Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija to advance relations and implement their obligations towards them”.
