Journalists should be free and safe (KIM radio)

The Head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo Jean-Claude Schlumberger and the OSCE Representative on Freedom of Media Dunja Mijatovic have condemned the attempted murder of a TV Klan journalist Milot Hasimja.

“I am shocked and appalled with today’s attack on Hasimja. Journalists should be free and safe in order to conduct their job, and today’s attack is absolutely unacceptable,” said Schlumberger and called judicial bodies to swiftly resolve the case.

The OSCE Representative on Freedom of Media Dunja Mijatovic stressed that safety of journalists has to be provided in order that they could carry out their duties unhindered. “Violence against journalists is unacceptable and should be considered as an attack on the society as a whole,” Mijatovic said.
