Ðurić: Kosovo as a state has no place at the Olympic Games (Kontakt Plus Radio)
The director of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Marko Ðurić, today stated that Kosovo has no place in the International Olympic Committee, nor it has place as an independent state at the Olympic Games.
“No one in Serbia prevents athletes from Kosovo from taking part at OG. They could do it as a part of the Serbian Olympic Team, and if there was a will not to politicize this issue, they could participate under the UN flag, but in this way Kosovo’s participation at OG serves only as a promotion of Hashim Thaçi, war criminals and the idea of the so cold independence of Kosovo,” said Ðurić to TV Pink.
He stressed that Serbia as a state, its people and the government are adamantly against turning the sport into a parody, and changing the essence of the Olympic spirit, which should be the one of reconciliation.
“It is shameful that part of the domestic public, comments with hypocrisy and ill-intention efforts invested by Serbia to prevent this,” said Ðurić, and added that there are some analysts that are advocating “giving up and accepting that our athletes step on the medal podium, watch the flag of the fake state established on the crimes against our people, on the part of our territory, by snitching part of our land, which is our soul, our history and our essence.”
