KDI: 91% Serbs do not accept Kosovo's recognition by Serbia (RTK2)
According to the results of the Kosovo Democratic Institute research, 91 per cent of Serbian community members would not accept Kosovo's recognition by Serbia.
The same research shows that, if the parliamentary elections were held next week, 45% of citizens would surely come out.
A public opinion survey on the final phase of the dialogue with Belgrade shows that 61 percent of respondents expect Serbia to recognize Kosovo, 56 percent, membership in the United Nations, 22 percent the exchange of territories, while 25 percent expect more autonomy for Kosovo Serbs.
"97% of respondents said they would accept that the outcome of the negotiations in the final phase is Kosovo's recognition by Serbia. However, all citizens of the Albanian community accept this option, while for 91% of respondents of the Serbian community would be unacceptable recognition of Kosovo by Serbia" said Violeta Hadzoli of the KDI.
Jeta Krasniqi of the Kosovo Democratic Institute said during the presentation of the results that one of the questions was and who should lead negotiations with Belgrade.
"44% of the respondents said that the negotiations should be headed by President Hashim Thaçi, 31% think that this should be done by opposition leaders, while 25% think that the negotiating team in negotiations with Serbia should be led by the Prime Minister of Kosovo," Krasniqi added.
Almost half of the respondents said that even after the final agreement, Serbia's influence in Kosovo will not be reduced.
