KDI criticizes parties for involvement in election campaign and Assembly neglect (RTK)

The Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) think tank issued a statement warning that even four months of general elections and numerous obstacles, the Assembly of Kosovo is not yet fully functional. KDI said that apart from assigning parliamentary committees, political parties have yet to propose names of MPs that would chair them or take part in them. “Establishment of parliamentary committees as Assembly’s working bodies, is a prerequisite to the functioning of this institution,” KDI said.

KDI poll: Association/Community could worsen interethnic relations (Kosovapress)

Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) think tank presented today findings of a poll carried out between 3 and 21 March and involving 1,065 rerspondents on the topic of Kosovo-Serbia dialogue. According to the poll, 58 percent of respondents said they do not believe courts in the north would be integrated into the Kosovo judicial system as agreed in Brussels while 48 percent believe that Serb parallel structures are still active in the north.

KDI: Kosovo lacks political will to combat corruption (RTK)

The Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) organized a regional conference to discuss institutional mechanisms in the fight against corruption. Visar Sutaj, representative of KDI, said the purpose of this discussion is to find ways to combat this phenomenon. Furthermore, he said there is a lack of political will to fight corruption in Kosovo.  According to him, the Anti-Corruption Agency has not delivered any results in fighting corruption.

KDI: 2015 - a year of ineffective work of the Assembly (Kosovapress)

The Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) today presented the end-of-year report on the work of the Assembly, where it was said that the year 2015 was a year of ineffective work of the Assembly.  Out of 138 draft-laws, the Assembly managed to adopt 47, thus fulfilling only 34 percent of the legislative agenda.

KDI: Citizens continue to face corruption (Koha)

In an end-of-year press conference, the Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) presented its activities in 2015 and recommendations for relevant Kosovo institutions. KDI said the people of Kosovo continue to face corruption and that according to their information, the citizens have shown readiness to report such activity. In 35 cases of corruption reported during the second half of 2015, KDI said that 7 involve allegations against ministries, 6 against municipalities, 5 against judicial institutions and 4 against the Privatisation Agency of Kosovo (PAK).

KDI: minimal progress in fighting corruption in Kosovo (Koha)

Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) today published the report "Assessment of National Integrity System in Kosovo", which says that corruption continues to thrive in Kosovo and Kosovo has seen minimal progress in anti-corruption efforts in the past four years. Weak institutional cooperation and gaps in implementation of the law show that there is a lack of political will and commitment to fight corruption, the report states.
