Palmer canceled participation in Belgrade Security Forum (Serbian media)

Serbian media reports that Western Balkans State Department Special Representative Matthew Palmer cancelled participation in Belgrade Security Forum, taking place October 16-18.

Matthew Palmer was scheduled to address the official opening of the Belgrade Security Forum on Thursday 17 October on "Sustainable Solutions for the Western Balkans".

German diplomat in charge of the Western Balkans Suzanne Schutz, former EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton and former French ambassador to Belgrade, Frederic Mondolini, will speak at the official opening.

Early elections not excluded, Serbia’s President says (N1)

Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic confirmed on Thursday he had a meeting with the closest party allies but would not say if the topics included early elections, adding that if there was a pressure that could happen, the Beta news agency reported.

Speaking to reporters at the side-lines of the Belgrade Security Forum conference, Vucic said he would not like to stay in power with the support of five-six percent of the voters, although the elections should be called in two years.

Kossev: Belgrade Security Forum Day One

The Belgrade Security Forum, an annual event discussing foreign affairs and security policy in the Balkans and Europe began yesterday. The first panel outside of the academic events was titled “Balkans 2025” and it was hosted by Hedvig Morvai, the Executive Director of the European Fund for the Balkans, Vladimir Medjak, Vice President of the European Movement in Serbia, Naim Rashiti, the Executive Director of the Balkans Policy Research Group and Robert Cooper, Council Member of the European Council for Foreign Relations.

Vucic on “two versions of Oliver Ivanovic’s murder” (Tanjug, B92)

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said the findings of Serbian services point out to the two versions of the murder of Oliver Ivanovic, B92 reports today.

Vucic recalled that Serbian services were not present during the investigation, nor they received satellite images, however they have certain findings.

Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic says the status of the Russian Humanitarian Center in Nis has not yet been "solved" because "huge pressures are being exerted," Serbian media reported.

According to him, more reasons are that the issue has been politicized, and, "we do not want it to become a subject of political disputes."

Speaking during a break in the Belgrade Security Forum on Thursday, Dacic "stressed that this should be resolved in line with the Vienna Convention."

"I hope this will happen quickly," Dacic said.

The meeting of Prime Minister of Albania and Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić and Edi Rama, is a great encouragement for dialogue between women from Belgrade and Pristina, said MP Dijana Vukomanović on the sixth Belgrade Security Forum.

- Even in these difficult circumstances, the dialogue continues - Vukomanović stressed, adding that dialogue would be transferred on the younger generation as this was the conclusion of the panel.
