Executive Director of the European Fund for the Balkans Hedvig Morvai believes that in the case of Kosovo and Catalonia there may be parallels and similarities, but that the context and power relations are different, reports today Radio Television of Serbia (RTS).

This is according to the Vienna-based daily Presse, that cites "warnings" about the EU "losing the Western Balkans" that have been "piling up in various publications."

Media interests in the region is increasing, reporters are being sent there and reports published, says Presse.

Vice President of the Socialist Party of Serbia Branko Ružić told Austrian Presse that Serbia doesn't have to recognize the independence of Kosovo, but it will become a full member of the EU "with exclusion of the territory of Kosovo". He notes that since Slovakia and Spain are not recognizing Kosovo then Serbia does not have to also, when it joins the EU.
