Kosovo special police units, ROSU, early this morning entered Mitrovica North and arrested three persons, B92 reports. The media also added shootings were heard, and the sirens were on. Dragisa Markovic (Kosovo police member), Sasa Curcic and Milos Rosic are arrested, according to the Serbian media. Following the police action, citizens gathered at Mitrovica North main square. Meanwhile, RTS reported that 4 Serbs were arrested, two of them Kosovo police members, and that they are sent to the police station in Mitrovica South.

Russia is ready to provide Serbian partners with support in defending legitimate national interests in relation to Kosovo, primarily in international structures, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in a letter to Serbian counterpart Ivica Dacic, reports Belgrade based daily Vecernje Novosti.

Leader of the opposition Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS), Milos Jovanovic thinks that ROSU action in Mitrovica North and utterly humiliating arrest of Serbian Government high official Marko Djuric “is the best warming what Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija awaits in the case of recognition of Kosovo secession,” Danas daily reported.

Morning after yesterday’s incidents in Mitrovica North goes peacefully, however, citizens are shocked and concerned over what had happened, Serbian media reported.

President of the Serbian List Goran Rakic told RTS that he will consider further participation in the Kosovo government. Morning is smarter than the evening, we will make a wise decision, we will be guided by the interests of citizens, Rakic says.

Deputy Prime Minister Dalibor Jevtic visited families that were searched by the special police unit ROSU based on a notification of a possible weapons smuggling, reports KIM radio.

Jevtic told local residents that there was no reason for fear, adding that this case had no inter-ethnic connotation.

Sources from NATO Headquarters said that the Brussels Agreement of 2013, mentioned these days by Serbia, does not include Kosovo police forces.

These sources, Serbian media report, claim that “Kosovo authorities do not have to seek KFOR’s permission to send their police forces anywhere in Kosovo.”
