Property soon to be registered in the name of both spouses (Koha)

Under the motto “The right to own property remains important factor on economic empowerment of women”, the Agency for Gender Equality organized a round table on the occasion of International Women's Day. The round table marked the initiating process of drafting Administrative Instruction "Property Registration in the name of both spouses".

CPHRF urges investigation on so-called Limaj scandal (Koha)

The Council for Protection of Human Rights and Freedom (CPHRF) expressed its concern regarding the allegations published by media that Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and European Union officials interfered in the judiciary on the so-called Klecka case.  “CPHRF asks for urgent investigation to verify the accuracy or elimination of these allegations because this is not the first case where there is information on political interference in judicial processes,” states the press release.

KFOR encourages joint border management between Kosovo and Montenegro (Koha)

The KFOR Commander, Major General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo visited Montenegro on Friday. Figliuolo met with Montenegrin Minister of Defense, Milica Pejanovic Djurisic and Minister of Interior Raško Konjević, with whom discussed the security situation in the region and the importance of close cooperation between the authorities of Kosovo and Montenegro on joint border management. Djurisic underlined the importance of KFOR to ensure a quiet and safe environment in Kosovo under the UN Resolution 1244.

Jahjaga visits Drenas/Glogovac municipality (Koha)

The President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, on Thursday visited the municipality of Drenas/Glogovac. Jahjaga met with Mayor Nexhat Demaku, who briefed her on the latest developments and challenges that this municipality is facing. Jahjaga and Demaku also discussed the issue of irregular migration and stressed that the number of people fleeing from Drenas/Glogovac has decreased in the recent weeks.

Mustafa: Special court not against KLA (Koha)

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, said on Wednesday that special court will deal with individual cases and not with the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). He said that the Law on special court soon will be processed in the government and in Parliament.  "By the end of this week or early next week we will proceed with the establishment of special court. It is a difficult process but helps to resolve the issues raised. The court is not directed against the KLA, but only against certain individuals,” said Mustafa.

Dialogue between Presevo Valley Albanians and Serbian Government to resume (Koha net)

Political representatives of the Presevo Valley requested officially today during a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Self-Government, Kori Udovicki, continuance of the dialogue with the Government of Serbia, with the intention of integration of Albanian community it the state institutions of Serbia. The news was confirmed by the Albanian deputy at Serbia’s Parliament, Shaip Kamberi.

KIA Department for Verification to become governmental agency (Koha)

The Department for Verification, which currently operates within the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (KIA) will become independent agency within the government of Kosovo, reports Koha. This is one of the challenges that the KIA Director, Agron Selimaj, presented during his report to the Parliamentary Committee for Supervision of KIA. This was announced by the chairman of this Committee, Haxhi Shala. Shala said that Selimaj reported on KIA developments, challenges and staff changes.

Interior Minister Hyseni travels to Germany (Koha)

Kosovo’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Skender Hyseni, traveled to Germany on Tuesday, upon the invitation of the German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere. During his visit, Hyseni will meet with de Maiziere and will be received by the German Bundestag for Security and Internal Affairs. Hyseni is also expected to hold a lecture at the Aspen Institute.

Demolli and Kastrati in Brussels at NATO conference (Koha)

The Minister of Kosovo Security Force (KSF), Haki Demolli, and KSF commander, Lt. Gen. Kadri Kastrati along with a delegation of the Kosovo government, today and tomorrow will stay in Brussels at the invitation of the North-Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Demolli and Kastrati will participate in workshops and conferences dealing with security issues, opportunities for training and military education, military cooperation and the role of NATO in Kosovo and beyond.
