Capture of the state (Tribuna)

Columnist Donik Sallova writes today that for the first time since June elections, last week the parties of the VLAN coalition showed signs of giving up on the demand to have the post of Assembly speaker by claiming that the key objective of the coalition is to undertake reforms so necessary in Kosovo. In a way, adds Sallova, the coalition bloc surrendered to the fact that constitutional procedures as well as the ruling of the Constitutional Court prevent it from electing a speaker from its own ranks.

Unavoidable elections (Tribuna)

In an opinion piece for the paper, journalist Arben Ahmeti, observes that the logical solution for the current political deadlock in Kosovo is to hold elections as any other scenario creates institutions with no credibility. On one hand, the opposition coalition has no possibility to elect its own Assembly speaker. If it were however to leave the speaker’s post to the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and form the government on its own, this would make for a very complicated situation and there would always be a possibility for destabilization.

Hoxhaj: Sanctions to Russia, war to ISIS (Gazeta Tribuna)

"When the EU and the U.S. have decided to put such sanctions against Russian Federation and when they are more determinant than ever, of course Kosovo would do the same thing. So, there is a logical and coordinated flow of the democratic world to condemn the Russian behavior and there is no doubt that Kosovo has joined it,” said Enver Hoxhaj, Kosovo’s Minister of Foreign Affair’s.

Buying time (Tribuna)

Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, member of the presidency of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), argues in her opinion piece that the LDK was always open for cooperation with parliamentary parties but that cooperation with the current leadership of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) is absolutely impossible.

Krasniqi: All depends of the ZSO statute (Akter)

While representatives of the Serbian List announce the requirements for entry into the Kosovo government and partnership in the formation of institutions, political analysts see this as a threat to the strengthening of the influence of Belgrade in Kosovo.

Establishment of the Union of Serbian municipalities (ZSO) outside of the constitutional framework for a number of analysts is a very sensitive matter. But there are those who believe that there should be a general debate on the formation of the association, according to Pristina based newspaper Tribuna.

Long way home (Tribuna)

Member of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, writes in an opinion piece for the paper that for Kosovo Diaspora, the long way home doesn’t end at the Kosovo border but instead it is here when the people coming home for their holidays have to wait for hours. Even without stepping onto the territory of Kosovo, they face the institutional ignorance of Kosovo authorities. “This negligence is resulting in very serious difficulties which are making our immigration’s way back home not only long but almost impossible”, writes Osmani-Sadriu.

The state or the power? (Tribuna)

Xhavit Haliti, member of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, claims that based on the developments after the elections, the constitutive session of the Assembly was expected to fail and it did. This proved clearly and publicly that the democratic game of elections in Kosovo, a six year state, not recognized by five EU countries and not a member of the UN, it does not have for an objective consolidation, recognition and dignifying international presence, but taking over the power, without respecting the election results.

Unity for realization of basic rights (Tribuna)

Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, member of the chairmanship of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), writes that the latest protests by Albanians in Skopje and other cities in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia show that more time is needed to achieve sustainable peace between people living there. “It is evident that peace cannot be achieved without respecting the basic rights of Albanians in Macedonia. Macedonian authorities are choosing not to respect the Ohrid Agreement that was reached through international mediation and supervision.

Haliti: Elections are held for the sake of solutions (Tribuna)

Xhavit Haliti, deputy speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, writes that the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) and the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA), “which were historically close to the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK)”, entered into a coalition with the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) and even before the certification of election results, they rushed to split the highest state posts between them. “Thus, the fight for power deformed the axiomatic sentence of democracy according to which elections are held for the sake of solutions.
