Mitrovica municipal assembly to hold extraordinary meeting to discuss reburial of Isa Boletini (Telegrafi)

Mitrovica Mayor Agim Bahtiri has called an extraordinary meeting of the municipal assembly tomorrow to discuss the reburial of the Albanian national hero, Isa Boletini. The move comes after the organizational committee for reburial decided to perform the ceremony in Vlora, Albania, instead of Isa Boletini’s place of birth, Boletin village in the northern part of Kosovo, as originally planned.

Jablanovic not to appear before the prosecution (Telegrafi)

Former Minister of Communities and Returns from the Serbian List, Aleksandar Jablanovic, said he would not appear before the prosecution following a lawsuit against him at the Basic Court in Gjakova/Djakovica. “Those who are not guilty of anything, have no reason to prove their innocence, especially in front of the prosecution in Gjakova/Djakovica,” Jablanovic told the local Serb media. He said the lawsuit against him is a pressure on all Serbian leaders in Kosovo to discourage them from raising their voice against the violence on the members of the Serb community in Kosovo.

Pristina seeks official reply from Skopje over Kumanovo events (Telegrafi)

President of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga and Prime Minister Isa Mustafa have expressed their deep concern over the recent events in Kumanovo, FYROM, and condemned any involvement of the people of Kosovo. After a meeting today, Jahjaga and Mustafa called for a transparent and credible investigation into the recent events and expressed the readiness of Kosovo institutions to help in the process. “Republic of Kosovo remains committed to a multiethnic, stable Macedonia, committed to equal rights for all communities and implementation of Ohrid Agreement,” a joint Jahjaga-Mustafa statement reads.

Krusha prepares lawsuit against Serbia (Telegrafi)

The village of Krusha, Municipality of Rahovec/Orahovac, is expected to file a lawsuit against Serbia for the alleged crimes committed in this village.  Mayor of the village, Selami Hoti said that the locals have opened an office in the village, in which are being offered evidence for criminal and civil lawsuits to be filed for crimes that happened during the conflict in 1999.  "Half of the residents of the village have already reported damages and evidence that they have. Also, we ask all those who still have not submitted their claims to do so as soon as possible," said Hoti.

Collaku: We will apply for Council of Europe membership (Telegrafi)

Kosovo’s Minister of European Integration, Bekim Collaku, met today with the Council of Europe Head of Office in Pristina, Isabelle Servoz Gallucci, and informed her that the Kosovo government was making all necessary preparations to apply for membership of the Council of Europe. “I also notified Gallucci about our two priorities in the European agenda: the visa liberalization process and the signing of the Stabilization/Association Agreement.

Zbogar speaks about visa liberalization, fight against corruption (Telegrafi)

European Union Special Representative to Kosovo, Samuel Zbogar, called on Kosovo institutional leaders to focus on implementation of the visa liberalization criteria, particularly, in stepping up the fight against corruption and money laundering.  Zbogar said that precious time was lost in the forming the institutions followed then by the migration crisis earlier in the year and this means that there is little time left in implementing the remaining visa liberalization requirements.

Veseli in Strasbourg to discuss Kosovo’s European integration (Telegrafi)

The Kosovo Assembly Speaker, Kadri Veseli, on Tuesday traveled to Strasbourg to participate in the seventh inter-parliamentary meeting, European Parliament – Kosovo. The meeting will be co-chaired by Veseli and head of the European Parliament delegation for relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo, Tonino Picula.

Hyseni and Ferguson discuss cooperation between Kosovo Police and KFOR (Telegrafi)

Kosovo’s Interior Minister, Skender Hyseni met on Tuesday with the Commander of NATO Joint Force Naples, Admiral Mark Ferguson. Hyseni and Ferguson discussed the issue of security for the people of Kosovo and the rule of law. Admiral Ferguson expressed his willingness and commitment to support Ministry of Internal Affairs in its development path. Topic of discussion was also the issue of cross-border cooperation with neighboring countries in maintaining peace and security, and Kosovo’s progress in combating organized crime, corruption and violent extremism.
