Kuci: Candidacy for Assembly Speaker post hasn’t been discussed in PDK (Lajmi)

Hajredin Kuci, deputy leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), told Lajmi that the PDK has not discussed his candidacy for the post of Assembly Speaker. Zeri reported today that the PDK is considering proposing Kuci for the post. “This has not been discussed in the PDK,” Kuci was quoted as saying.

Vucic: Non-participation in elections is not the right solution (Lajmi)

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic has called on Kosovo Serbs today to participate in the 8 June parliamentary elections in Kosovo and said that boycotting elections was not a wise choice. “We need to act responsibly and in line with our state interests. Serbia will make this kind of a decision and it will not hide behind mayors of municipalities,” Vucic was quoted as saying in B92.

Democracy in Action: Peaceful campaign so far (Lajmi)

Democracy in Action, based on information from monitors of this mission, said election campaign has so far been peaceful, civilised and without any reported incidents.

In a press conference, DiA officials also expressed concern with the proposal of certain members of the Central Election Commission for recount of all votes. DiA considers that such an initiative is in conflict to the election law which clearly specifies under which conditions votes can be recounted.

Reichel requests not to speculate on relations between Germany and Kosovo (lajmi.net)

Former German Ambassador in Kosovo, Ernst Reichel has requested not to speculate on the relations between Pristina and Berlin, on the verge of the general elections of 8 June in the Republic of Kosovo.

The German diplomat has posted on his Facebook profile a video from the joint press conference of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Kosovo’s outgoing Prime Minister, Hashim Thaçi, during the visit of the latter in Berlin.

Maliqi: A campaign focused on economy (lajminet)

Political analyst, Shkëlzen Maliqi, assessed that election campaign does not appear to be comprehensive and that political parties are focusing on the future and economic development. He said that compared to the other parties, the election campaign of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK,) has more rhythm and complete content. According to him, the election campaign of the Democratic League of Kosovo is a outdated and vague.

Jacobson meets party leaders, calls for free and democratic elections (Lajmi)

On the second day of election campaign, leaders of main political parties in Kosovo gathered in a meeting called by the US Ambassador Tracey Ann Jacobson.

Sources said that in the meeting, Jacobson made it clear to the leaders that her country expects the campaign and 8 June elections to be free and democratic.
