Albanians in the north react: We’re being discriminated by institutions again (Kosovapress)

The representatives of Albanians living in the northern part of Kosovo have reacted to the signing of contracts by members of the so-called Civil Protection with Kosovo’s institutions. These representatives argue that although Albanians make up over 30 percent of the population in the north they are discriminated by the mayors of the northern municipalities and are not given employment opportunities in hospitals, educational institutions or social centres.

Citing unnamed sources, the news site reports that unknown assailants throw a Molotov cocktail at the house of a Kosovo Police officer in Mitrovica North on Monday night. Zeljko Bojic, head of police operations in the north, confirmed the incident. Bojic said the police officer whose house was attacked is a Bosniak and that no human injuries were inflicted.

Hodzic: Another 378 members of “Civil Protection” integrated in Kosovo institutions (Kosovapress)

The news site reports that the remaining 378 members of the so-called “Civil Protection” in northern Kosovo have signed today at the Administrative Office in Mitrovica North working contracts with Kosovo’s institutions. Administrative Office chief Adriana Hodzic confirmed the news. “The representatives of respective ministries here and we are helping out with the logistics, to see if any additional documents are required for these people. I can confirm that the agreement is being implemented but I do not have further details,” Hodzic said.

Kosovo government to recognize diplomas from University of Mitrovica North (Gazeta Express)

The government of Kosovo during its meeting today voted the criteria for issuing certificates for the Kosovo citizens who received undergraduate diplomas from the University of North Mitrovica.  All those who received degrees from this University, their diplomas will be recognized if they meet the set criteria. Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister, Branimir Stojanovic, said that despite the delay, this decision is welcomed.

Spirić: The workers will not lose their jobs (KIM Radio)

In 2016, Serbia will continue to finance the work of Mitrovica North Municipality, institutions and enterprises established by the municipality, said the President of the Temporary Organ of the municipality Aleksandar Spiric. He stressed that employees don’t need to worry that they will lose their jobs, since all institutions have full support of the Serbian government and Office for Kosovo. Through programs and in cooperation with the National Employment Service, local government tried to involve more young people.

Today, the closing arguments in defense of Oliver Ivanovic (KIM Radio)

In the Municipal Court in Mitrovica north solicitors of the CI SDP leader Oliver Ivanovic and another four Serbs will today give their closing arguments in the trial held before that Court. Previous closing speech was given by the prosecutor Romulo Mateus. The evidence procedure was completed last week, and within the trial, which began on December 18 last year and which is being waged against Ivanovic and four other Serbs, were interrogated 55 witnesses.

Brawl between police and “Civil Protection” in northern Kosovo (Kosovapress)

Unnamed sources told the news site that a brawl broke out in Mitrovica North today between members of the Kosovo Police and the so-called Civil Protection after police towed away a vehicle that was inappropriately parked. The source said: “the vehicle that was towed away by Kosovo Police belongs to Danilo Delibasic, an assistant to the chief of the Civil Protection, Stevo Pavicevic. After learning that police were towing away his car, Delibasic accompanied by several members of his organization went to the site and attacked a police officer, Ljubinko Jevtic.

Instagram removed profile "NO to Kosovo's membership in UNESCO" (Vecernje Novosti)

Students' office in Mitrovica north opened a profile on Instagram, but the profile was closed, because the images of the burned and destroyed churches were characterized as "disturbing content".  “We have been told that we are posting disturbing images, and we simply posted the truth - the burning of Serb churches and monasteries, the holy places, the destruction of monuments, tombs, and so on,” said Nemanja Bisevac, one of the account's administrators.
