Opposition forms group to secure Assembly Speaker post (Koha)

The opposition bloc wishing to form a new government of Kosovo has decided to create a joint group in order to secure the post of Assembly Speaker, the paper reports on the front page. According to the agreement, the post is set to go to the leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Isa Mustafa, but an Assembly regulation stipulates that the position should go to a candidate proposed by the largest parliamentary group.

Serbs below the threshold (Danas)

According to preliminary results from the processed 2,352, out of 2,374 polling stations in Kosovo, the Democratic Party of Kosovo won Kosovo early parliamentary elections with 30.69 percent of the vote. Threshold was crossed by the Democratic League of Kosovo, the Self-Determination Movement, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo and the Initiative for Kosovo. Pacolli's Alliance for Kosovo with 4.65 percent remained below the threshold as well as the Serbian list with 4.21 percent of the vote. 

Election campaign starts officially (Lajm)

The official campaign for the 8 June elections started in Kosovo, after the “pre-election campaign”. The Kosovo Assembly has 120 seats, but 20 are reserved for minority communities, including ten for Serbs and the rest for other non-Serb communities. The Central Election Commission (CEC) has certified 30 participating entities, including 18 political parties, seven civic initiatives, one independent candidate and four coalitions, with a total of 1,235 candidates running.
