Kosovo should not remain hostage to dialogue (Koha Ditore)

Augustin Palokaj writes today that it is almost certain that the new EU foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini, will insist on continuation of the Pristina-Belgrade dialogue and implementation of all agreements reached in the course of it. In fact, adds Palokaj, normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia is also the condition the two countries have to meet in order to get closer to EU membership. This is particularly the case for Serbia which has already opened membership negotiations.

PM with Vucic, Kurti with Djuric (Blic)

Kosovo political analyst, Fatmir Sheholi, believes that representative of the Government of Kosovo will lead the political dialogue, and representative of the Self-determination will be at the forefront of technical dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, which will be soon continued. He rejected the ambiguity, caused by the attitude of Self-determination, that Belgrade should not participate in the dialogue, but only representatives of Kosovo Serbs, the EU and European Commission.

EU appoints commissioner for neighborhood policy (B92)

BRUSSELS -- Johannes Hahn has been appointed as EU's commissioner for neighborhood policy and enlargement negotiations.

This new office was introduced instead of the commissioner for enlargement, that was until now occupied by Stefan Fule.

Hahn is considered a very experienced diplomat when it comes to relations between the European Union and the Balkans.

New European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker has recently twice stated that the EU would not accept any new members during his five-year term in office.
