Thaci commends Rama for his stance on Kosovo (Koha)

Outgoing Prime Minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, hailed the visit of Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, to Serbia saying that it will contribute to improvement of relations between the two countries. Thaci expressed belief that Rama’s historic visit and signing of three important cooperation agreements mark a new chapter in relations between Albania and Serbia.

Thaci insists: Stalemate can be resolved only through dialogue (Kosovapress)

Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) officials continue to insist that only an agreement between leaders of political parties can resolve the current political deadlock. PDK leader, Hashim Thaci said his party will decide on future steps in a meeting of the steering council tomorrow. He stressed that the stalemate can be resolved only through communication and discussion of issues within the framework of efforts undertaken by President, Atifete Jahjaga.

Thaci: The people spoke on 8 June (Koha)

Kosovo’s Prime Minister Hashim Thaci posted on his Facebook account today that the verdict of the people on 8 June elections gave him and his party the right to form the new institutions. “The new government will be formed with respect to the outcome of the 8 June elections and with respect to the decisions of the Constitutional Court. The 8 June elections were fair, free, democratic and transparent. These elections were organized for the first time throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosovo. They marked a historic success for our young state.

Thaci: I have no nostalgia for Belgrade (Telegrafi)

Outgoing Prime Minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, continues to support the idea that Albanians leaders, including Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga, should travel to Belgrade. In an interview for Radio Dukagjini, Thaci said that any time Kosovo is treated as a country, its representatives should take part in meetings such as the present one in Belgrade as this, he stressed, contributes to consolidation of the state of Kosovo.

Thaci hails Ashton’s role in Brussels Agreement (Koha)

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, today met Catherine Ashton who is concluding her mandate as EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security. Thaci praised Ashton’s role in achieving the Brussels Agreement just as former Serbian Prime Minister, Ivica Dacic, did yesterday. “I met Baroness Ashton today in Brussels to discuss the political situation and hail her extraordinary role in the achievement of the Brussels Agreement”, Thaci wrote on Facebook.

Thaci gives assurances that Kosovo will continue dialogue (Koha)

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, said today in Brussels that he assured the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security, Catherine Ashton, the European Union and all allies, that Kosovo will continue the process of dialogue.

In a press conference following his meeting with Ashton, Thaci said, “Agreement with Serbia was not easy but was necessary”. He added, “Today, Serbs from the north are integrating into the society and institutions. Today, our peoples are looking to the future of Euro-Atlantic integration, which has not happened before.”

Thaci meets EULEX chief Meucci (Kosovapress)

Outgoing Prime Minister, Hashim Thaci, received today the new chief of EULEX, Gabriele Meucci, and discussed continuation of cooperation between EULEX and Kosovo institutions to implement rule of law and fight corruption and organised crime. In a Facebook post, Thaci said he assured Meucci that institutions of Kosovo will continue support for efforts in strengthening democracy, rule of law, economic development, conclusion of visa liberalization process and implementation of EU and NATO integration criteria.

Haradinaj: No new elections (Indeksonline)

Ramush Haradinaj, leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), told reporters today after the meeting of the coalition bloc that Kosovo should not go to new elections. “It is our good fortune that there is a majority in the Assembly and that this institution will be not held hostage. Mr. Thaci is governing the country with 36 votes. The majority has 63 votes and this situation cannot go on forever. I don’t know who would benefit from elections; the Assembly has a majority. We all need to reflect on the fact that Kosovo is being governed with only 36 votes.
