Association of families of kidnapped: Vucic, freeze the dialogue (RTS)

The Association of Families of the Kidnapped and Killed in Kosovo and Metohija through the announcement proposed to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to freeze the dialogue in Brussels and publicly request the KLA Special Criminal Court to begin its work in order to prosecute and convict the leaders of the KLA because of the command responsibility, RTS reports.

The statement says that "Brussels and KLA leaders are lying''.

EU hails readiness of Belgrade and Pristina to continue dialogue (RFE/RTK)

European Union welcomes the readiness of President of Kosovo Hashim Thaci and President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic to continue dialogue for normalisation of relations, said EU foreign policy spokesperson, Maja Kocijancic, in reference to the recent telephone conversation between Thaci and Vucic. Kocijancic added that efforts are underway to set the date for the next meeting of the technical dialogue after the previous one failed to take place following the killing of Kosovo Serb political leader, Oliver Ivanovic.

Haradinaj: No alternative to dialogue (media)

Prime Minister of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, said the Kosovo delegation in talks with Serbia had a more than three-hour long meeting with EU officials in Brussels and discussed the structure of dialogue in the past and the future as well as the current state of implementation of agreements reached in the process. In a Facebook post Haradinaj said the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue was scheduled to take place over three days starting 16 January but was cancelled on the part of the Serbian side citing events in the northern part of Mitrovica.

Haradinaj: Dialogue makes no sense unless it ends in mutual recognition (Koha)

Prime Minister of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, said the continuation of the Pristina-Belgrade dialogue would make no sense it is does not result in mutual recognition. Answering to a question put forth by Vetevendosje MP Albulena Haxhiu on what is his position on the justice agreement reached by the parties in the dialogue, Haradinaj said at the Assembly that the agreement was not perfect but was a step towards stretching the rule of law to the north of Kosovo.

Kosovo Assembly MP from the Serb Liberal Party, Slobodan Petrovic, said during a discussion at the Media Centre in Caglavica that the dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade is a completely non-transparent process and no one actually knows what is going on in it. At the same time, Arben Gashi, MP from the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) said Serbia is trying to spread its influence in Kosovo through the Brussels dialogue and that any time an agreement was reached, both parties presented it as their own success.

Tahiri: No normalisation of relations without Serbia recognising Kosovo (Klan Kosova)

Former Kosovo’s chief negotiator in the dialogue with Serbia, Edita Tahiri, said that Kosovo and Serbia need to address the issue of their border demarcation and compensation of war damages. In a debate organised today in Mitrovica north the Pristina-Belgrade dialogue, Tahiri said there can be no normalization of relations without Serbia recognising independence of Kosovo.

Veseli: We will continue dialogue with Serbia (RTK)

The President of the Assembly of Kosovo, Kadri Veseli, said during the regional security conference “NATO and Western Balkans” that the dialogue with Serbia will continue in order to achieve  good neighborly relations. “We hope that Serbia will recognize Kosovo state in the future,” he said.

He also said that Kosovo Security Force will soon become and army allied with all NATO states.

AAK’s Isufi: Complete transparency on Kosovo-Serbia dialogue (Klan Kosova)

Ahmet Isufi, MP from the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), said that Kosovo should have asked for Serbia’s recognition and compensation of war damages as preconditions for normalization of relations. He said the dialogue process has so far not been transparent and needs to change its format so that there is accountability for agreements reached.

Haradinaj: We will adopt a plan on Kosovo’s position in crucial areas (Telegrafi)

Prime Minister of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, said the government of Kosovo will soon adopt a plan on the official position to the issue of dialogue with Serbia and all other  matters of crucial interest. He said this plan would not be under the ownership of either the president of Kosovo or the government but will be put to vote at the Assembly of Kosovo.

EC regrets postponement of agreement implementation (RFE/RTK)

European Commission has expressed regret over delays in implementation of the justice agreement reached between Kosovo and Serbia in Brussels. “Pristina has met all obligations relating to implementation of the justice agreement. Integration of staff is important as it contributes to the rule of law in Kosovo,” said European Commission spokesperson, Maja Kocijancic. She said progress of both sides on European integration is linked to progress in the dialogue for normalization of relations.
