Kosovo Special Prosecution has filed an indictment against two persons from Peja/Pec on terrorism charges. The suspects are accused of managing a radio station and a web portal in the territory of Kosovo for spreading of terrorist propaganda aimed at encouraging the Kosovo youths to join terrorist organisations in Syria and Iraq. They are also being accused of joining foreign troops.
Former US ambassador to Serbia William Montgomery expects stability in the Balkans, the fight against terrorism and the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina among the main issues to be discussed during the upcoming visit of US Vice President Joseph Biden to Serbia.
"I expect that Biden would push for the further progress in terms of the Brussels Agreement," Montgomery said to Tanjug.
The Kosovo Police has undertaken a search operation in the region of Peja/Peć this morning which resulted in the arrest of two persons suspected of spreading terrorist propaganda. The news was confirmed by Kosovo Police spokesperson Baki Kelani.
A citizen of Kosovo pleaded guilty in U.S. federal court Wednesday of providing material support to terrorists by giving information obtained through identity theft, the FBI said.

Kosovo’s Interior Minister, Skender Hyseni, told Radio Free Europe on Tuesday that international cooperation and exchange of information between security institutions of different countries, are the essential elements for combating terrorism and violent extremism. According to him, the non-recognition of Kosovo by Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the lack of diplomatic relations with these two countries, is the main obstacle to exchange of information and combating terrorism in the regional context.
President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, hailed the Kosovo Assembly pro-vote to the draft law on preventing funding of terrorism. He said the law is aimed at preventing the citizens of Kosovo from joining wars in foreign territory. “The fact that not a single case of people from Kosovo joining foreign wars has been recorded in the last six months is one of the first successes of our joint efforts”, wrote Thaçi on his social media account. He stressed that Kosovo remains at the forefront of the battle against extremism and terrorism.
Kosovo Assembly members approved today, for the second time, the draft law against money laundering and funding of terrorism. The law was passed with 58 votes in favour, none against and seven abstentions. Chairman of the Kosovo Assembly's budget and finances commission, Naser Osmani, said that the draft law needs to be supplemented again following concerns by the EU and EULEX that it is not in full accordance to the EU directives. Osmani said the government and EU experts should work together and propose necessary amendments by October.
Prime Minister of Kosovo Isa Mustafa and Interior Minister Skender Hyseni said in a meeting today that the security situation in Kosovo is satisfactory. Mustafa said that thanks to coordinated efforts by security institutions in Kosovo, the number of the Kosovo citizens that decide to join terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq has significantly dropped, with no such case being reported in the last eight months. Hyseni said Kosovo is proud of its commitment to the fight against terrorism.
The Government of Kosovo is committed to step up efforts in preventing extremism and terrorism, said today Prime Minister Isa Mustafa in a meeting on the implementation of the national strategy for prevention of violent extremism and radicalism. Mustafa said Kosovo is a small country but has its share of responsibilities in the global fight against terrorism. “Consequences from terrorism are great, long-term, and necessarily require a joint alliance,” said Mustafa. He said the Government of Kosovo has defined concrete objectives in the fight against terrorism and radicalism.
The Kosovo Police yesterday arrested a terrorist suspect at the Pristina International Airport. He was arrested on the basis of international warrant issued by the Basic Court in Pristina on suspicion of involvement in terrorist groups. With the decision of the prosecutor, the suspect was taken into custody.
