A report of the UN Secretary-General on the work of the UNMIK for the period from July 16 - October 15 will be examined during the session, the Serbian government has announced. United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres warned that despite of peace in Kosovo over the last three months, several incidents which were results of intercommunity tensions were recorded, Serbian public broadcaster RTS reports. There is still a “clash” in the Security Council regarding London’s decision to remove Kosovo from the agenda in August, while Russia and China refuse to move discussion on Kosovo behind the closed doors, Belgrade-based daily Vecerenje Novosti reported. Therefore, discussion on the situation in Kosovo three times a year, open to public, according to Novosti, could be a compromise solution among the great powers in the Security Council.  

Russia and China have once again opposed initiatives coming from some UN Security Council members to change the format of the UN mission in Kosovo, UNMIK. They hold the same position when it comes to attempts to change the format of the Council's sessions dedicated to Kosovo.
