Serbs still choose vice president (KiM radio)

At the inaugural session of the Assembly on 17 July, the first man of Parliament, and five vice-presidents will be appointed, one of whom must be a Serb.

Who will be suggested by the Serbian list is not yet decided, and for the selection of their candidate will be required a simple majority, or 61 votes, which includes significant support from the Albanian deputies.

As a representative of the Serbian List in parliament Sasa Milosavljevic said that he sees no reason for Albanians to not accept a candidate of the Serbian List.

Kosovo needs a stable government; new elections are a bad solution (RTK2)

“All options are open and everything is still uncertain related to the majority of 61 votes in the Assembly, which is the number of votes required for the formation of the Government of Kosovo,” said adviser to Kosovo Prime Minister and member of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) Ardian Arifaj. He stressed that PDK is winner of these elections, so consequently the position of PM belongs to this party. 

Poor educational structure blocks the growth of employment (RTK2)

According to the UNDP report, 82 per cent of unemployed people in Kosovo have no work experience, while 57 per cent of them are illiterate.

The problem of youth unemployment is one of the most pressing issues in Kosovo. According to UNDP, in Kosovo only 31 per cent of the population is employed. Problem is, as they say, an insufficient number of educated people.

Djordje Borisavljevic is a third year student at a technical college in North Mitrovica. He said that after the completion of the Secondary technical school, he did not doubt whether he should enrol in a college.

No solution for the problem in Brdjani (RTK2)

The ban for the construction of houses in Brdjani, in North Mitrovica, remains in force after meeting which mayors of the southern and northern part of Mitrovica hold. 

Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, Dardan Gashi met with the mayors of North and South Mitrovica Goran Rakic and Agim Bahtiri to solve the problem related to the "controversial" building of houses in Brdjani. However, the meeting did not result in any concrete agreement, reads a statement of the Ministry. 

Announced the construction of houses for the vulnerable (RTK2)

Mayor of Gracanica, Branimir Stojanovic and Director of the Office of the Government of Kosovo for Communities Srdjan Popovic signed a memorandum on the construction of five houses for socially vulnerable families and the reconstruction of the church of St. Dimitrije in Sušica.

Director of the Office Srdjan Popovic said that the signing of a memorandum is continuation of successful cooperation with the municipality of Gracanica.

Miletic: The decision of the Constitutional is a compromise (RTK2)

Vice-President of the Assembly of Kosovo in the previous session Petar Miletic told RTK2 that he interprets the decision of the Constitutional Court as a compromise between the fact that prime has to be from the party that won the most votes and the fact of whether anybody else could be it.

"The decision of the Constitutional Court must be respected and there is no question," said Petar Miletic, Vice President of the Assembly in the previous session, pointing out that it is not good that a situation arose where the Constitutional Court had to judge to whom to give a mandate.

Janjic: There is a risk of abuse of Serbs from the north (RTK2)

Political analyst Dusan Janjic believes that there is a risk of abuse of Serbs from northern Kosovo with the aim of tightening relations and abandonment of the Brussels agreement and its implementation.

Those familiar with Kosovo’s political circumstances have different perceptions of the event during the St. Vitus celebration on Gazimestan and incidents during the speech of the President of Serbia, Tomislav Nikolic, to whom a part of the crowd derogatory chanted, calling him a traitor.

Adopted only 206 complaints for registration in the electoral roll (RTK2)

Serbs displaced from Kosovo filed 9 172 complaints for registration in the electoral roll. Election panel for appeals adopted only 206, it was confirmed to RTK2.

The election panel for appeals said that they rejected appeals due to incomplete documentation, as they did not contain important personal information.

"The appeals were rejected because they were not complete, important personal documents were missing, concerning Article 90 of the electoral law, identity card, passport, refugee card," said Mul Desku, President of the Secretariat election panel for the appeal.
