Trepca’s fate to be resolved within the next 20 months (dailies)

The Special Chamber of the Supreme Court has set the date of the 1 November 2016 as the deadline for the Privatization Agency of Kosovo (PAK) to submit the plan for the reorganization of Trepca enterprise. According to the verdict, PAK is advised to inform immediately Kosovo authorities for the financial needs, and for the engagement of the bidder for professional services in the procedure of Trepca’s reorganization.

Lumezi: There will be no more untouchable people in Kosovo (Zeri)

The only candidate for the chief prosecutor of Kosovo, Aleksander Lumezi, stated in an interview for Zeri that all prosecutors should work with professionalism. He said that he does not believe on existence of clans within the prosecution system of Kosovo, however he admits that there were interferences from outside in the process of the candidature for the chief prosecutor of Kosovo.

Momir Stojanovic: The warrant aims to intimidate Serbs (RTS, Blic)

SNS MP, Momir Stojanovic said that he had heard that for him was issued "red" Interpol warrant but that he hopes the reaction of the Serbian state. "I hope that I have a state that will decide about such an arrest warrant, because aim of this warrant is to intimidate Serbs to return to Kosovo and Metohija and seize their properties," said Momir Stojanovic, who is the chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for the control of the security services, reports Tanjug. Abbas: We have good relations with Kosovo but we will not recognise it as a country (BIRN, Telegrafi)

The Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, told BIRN that Palestine would not recognise Kosovo as an independent state. “We have good relations [with Kosovo] but we don’t interfere in conflicts between countries. We distance ourselves and we stay away from all the conflicts, because we don’t want to be here or there,” he said. The President said he was happy to offer Kosovo his “moral support” but no more. “They are friends, they are our people. But, because we have our problems, we hope that they will find a solution for themselves, without our interference,” Abbas said.

EP’s foreign affairs committee supports draft resolution on Kosovo (Koha)

European Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee passed today a draft resolution calling on five EU countries that have not recognised independence of Kosovo to do so. The draft resolution, prepared by EP Rapporteur for Kosovo Ulrike Lunacek, received 35 votes in favour from the members of the committee and 7 against. Lunacek said she hoped that the draft would also receive the support of the European Parliament members during a plenary session that will take place in March.

Kosovo and UK sign MoU against organised crime (Telegrafi)

Kosovo’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency signed today in Pristina a Memorandum of Understanding in the fight against organised crime. Minister of Internal Affairs Skender Hyseni said Kosovo is strongly committed to fighting all types of crime, in particular the trans-national crime and corruption. At the same time, Stephen Bennett from the UK’s National Crime Agency said the signing of the MoU will lead to better cooperation between the countries in fighting organised crime.

Sweden supports visa liberalization for Kosovo (all media)

Sweden’s Parliament Speaker, Urban Ahlin, said after meeting Kosovo Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli that Sweden supports visa liberalization for Kosovo. Ahlin said this only this year, around 50,000 people from Kosovo have requested asylum in Sweden and added that this influx will harm visa liberalization. He however pledged Sweden’s support on Kosovo’s efforts to gain visa liberalization for Europe.
