Jahjaga: Women still don’t enjoy equal treatment in society (Gazeta Blic)

President of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga said women and girls in Kosovo still do not have equal treatment in the society and added that the path to achieving equal rights is not easy. Jahjaga made the remarks in a conference on women’s rights in Pristina.

She said the although Kosovo has an advanced legal infrastructure on the issue of women’s rights, there is still work to be done by the institutions and the society as a whole to put implement those laws. “I have witnessed significant changes that participation of women brought about in sectors traditionally reserved for men such as security, politics, economy, media,” said Jahjaga.
