Selimi: SAA for Kosovo will be signed in October (Telegrafi)
Kosovo’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Petrit Selimi, said in an interview for TV Dukagjini, that according to information of the Kosovar diplomacy, the Stabilization/Association Agreement (SAA) between the European Union and Kosovo will be signed in October. Selimi said he is fully confident that this year Kosovo will be an official candidate for membership in the Council of Europe. Selimi added that this year Kosovo was recognized by three countries. “These are sovereign states. The Kosovar diplomacy has had diverse priorities. We have signals that the next recognitions will come from countries in different continents,” he added. Selimi also talked about Kosovo’s bid to become a member of the UNESCO, saying that Kosovo authorities are working closely with UNESCO member states to get the necessary support. “Our work, which has not included any insults, degradations or resorting to the past, has been highly evaluated, unlike Serbia which is lobbying wildly against. The UN gave a clear response to Serbia’s opposition toward Kosovo’s eventual admission in the UNESCO, saying that this is a matter exclusively for the UNESCO,” he said.
