Kosovo government greets incident-less visit by Serbian pilgrims to Gjakova (Kallxo.com)
The Government of the Republic of Kosovo issued a press release on Saturday greeting “the incident-less accomplishment of Serbian pilgrims’ visits at the church in Gjakova, as well as in churches, monasteries and cemeteries in several other towns in Kosovo”. The press release noted: “The Government of the Republic of Kosovo highly appreciates the conduct of citizens and pilgrims upon these visits, as well the commitment of the Mayor of Gjakova and local authorities of Peja, Deçan, Suhareka, Mitrovica and to other municipalities that hosted the Serbian pilgrims, same time extends its appreciation to the Kosovo Police for the professionalism showed upon this occasion. The Government of the Republic of Kosovo considers that this is the best real proof of traditional cohabitation and tolerance that characterizes Kosovo citizens of all ethnicities and religions. The Republic of Kosovo and its people are committed to respect all European democratic values, to become part of democratic world and all other international organizations dealing with heritage, culture education and science and further advancement of wider relations and cooperation between nations around the world. Upon this occasion, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo considers that eventual membership of Kosovo in United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organization (UNESCO) in Monday, would be a significant step towards strengthening of the above values. The Republic of Kosovo deserves and is ready to become decent member of UNESCO, since it shares and believes in the same values as of UNESCO’s mission”.
