Hahn has several messages for Kosovo politicians (Klan Kosova)
“For the benefit of your country and population, I ask the opposition to avoid violence and engage in a constructive manner on the debate within the Assembly of Kosovo,” was the message of the EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood policy, Johannes Hahn, to the Kosovo MPs from the coalition government and opposition parties, members of the Committee for European integration, that he met on Tuesday in Brussels.
Hahn told them that only some minor issues remain to meet the conditions for visa liberalization, and appealed on all Kosovo institutions to engage in dialogue with opposition, so as to overcome the current situation. According to Hahn, it is a collective obligation to work as hard as possible to change the image of Kosovo, especially for the benefit of its youth. He added that violence seen recently in the streets of Pristina is unacceptable.
He also added that despite the fact that it is not an easy task for Kosovo, implementation of the agreements with Serbia will determine Kosovo’s access to the European Union. Hahn said to Kosovo lawmakers that democracy requires constructive debate involving all political parties, and excluding no one.
Members of the Parliament Teuta Sahatqia as head of the Committee for European Integration, Arben Gashi, Time Kadrijaj, Valdete Bajrami and Ilir Dedaj, were part of the delegation that met Hahn in Brussels.
