O’Connell: The Situation is very dangerous (Express/RTK)

The Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Kosovo, Ruairi O’Connell, replied on his Facebook page to the questions of Kosovo people. Asked about corruption in Kosovo, O'Connell said that he has no evidence about the corruption in Kosovo, however, according to him, if the citizens do have evidence, then they should report it. “To be honest, I am not a policeman, so I personally do not posses any evidence. But we have seen many cases when there is no reaction to corruption. If the citizens have evidence, they should report about it. But even if they do not have evidence, but they think that there is corruption, they have the possibility of voting differently,” O’Connell wrote. Asked about the current situation in Kosovo, O'Connell said that current polarizations in the political scene of Kosovo are dangerous. "The situation is dangerous. Rhetoric, threats and violence are concerning. But it is very important for the leaders of Kosovo to show now their capability to resolve Kosovo's problems. We do not support the government or opposition. We work with the representatives elected by the population. We support Kosovo. It is not my role to say if the politicians are good or bad. But as friends of Kosovo, we would say if we think that an action is positive or negative," he said. Asked about eventual election of Hashim Thaci for the president of Kosovo, O'Connell said that his opinion is not important. "The Assembly is responsible for the election of the candidate. If the deputies elect someone that you do not support, my advice is to consider not voting them next time," wrote O'Connell.
