Serbian List: Consensus first, then we will vote on demarcation! (Indeksonline)
Serb members of the Kosovo Assembly did not participate at the September 1 session that was scheduled to vote on the border demarcation agreement between Kosovo and Montenegro. Following the Serb boycott, the ruling coalition was forced to remove the border deal from the assembly’s agenda. Prime Minister Isa Mustafa said a broad-based roundtable would be organised with political parties to discuss the border deal with Montenegro, but the meeting has yet to take place. Serbian List chief Slavko Simic told the news website that the ruling coalition has not invited them to discuss the issue. “We have not discussed the demarcation topic yet. We expect greater institutional coordination by the ruling coalition to reach broad-based consensus among all political parties in the assembly on the demarcation topic and also other issues that are of vital interest to our people,” he said. Simic also argued that there is a great communication gap between the parties that should be closed once and for all. “If you are faced with issues that are of vital interest to our people, then we must act responsibly and avoid any political complication or obstruction. Every recent problem requires a pragmatic solution that is in line with the interests of the people and not the interests of a political party that is in government or the opposition,” Simic added.
