Ivanovic’s murder was recorded, prosecutors await examination (RTK)
Kosovo investigators have taken for examination the recordings of the security cameras that were in the street where the attack on the Serb politician Oliver Ivanovic occurred.
Two from the cameras, were placed on the SDP headquarters, where the former Kosovo official was heading to at the time he was gunned down by six bullets on his chest with a “Zastava” gun, by a still not identified person.
The Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution in Mitrovica, Shyqeri Syla, who is investigating the case together with a Serb colleague, said they are still waiting examination of the recordings taken from these cameras. “Several cameras were taken in that street, all that were there,” he said.
He confirmed that except for the cameras, an “Opel Astra” vehicle which was found a few kilometers from the site is also being examined.
However, the perpetrator, who shot on former MP Ivanovic, and later left the site by the “Astra” vehicle, has not been identified yet by Kosovo authorities. “No we do not have a suspect yet,” Syla said.
Oliver Ivanovic is the most senior political figure killed in Kosovo during the last 15 years. He was for several mandates MP of the Assembly of Kosovo and senior politician at the government of Kosovo.
Ivanovic lately faced indictment for war crimes. Despite the fact that he was sentenced by the Basic Court for murder and expelling of Albanians from the north, the case was returned for a retrial.
