Rama: Initiative to abrogate specialist court "orchestrated" (Klan Kosova)
Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, in an interview to the Albanian-based Report TV, spoke about Kosovo and the initiative to abrogate law on specialist chambers which he said was “orchestrated”. At the same time, he said allegations against KLA commanders in the Council of Europe rapporteur Dick Marty’s report are “science fiction”.
“It is an orchestrated move, carried out in a terrain of uncertainties which has caused confusion with the partners as well. I believe everything needs to be explained carefully and patiently. At the end of the day, Kosovo is the mother of all those born there but it is also the baby brought to this world as an independent country by all those who stand against the abrogation of this legislation. I think it is necessary, whenever there is a certain initiative or an issue of such importance, to take into account the position of those who brought this baby of freedom and independence to life,” Rama said with reference to the initiative of a group of Kosovo MPs to abolish law on specialist court.
As for the Council of Europe report, Rama said that if the report’s author, Dick Marty, would compete in a film festival he would be awarded best piece of fiction for the allegations he raised against former KLA members. He said allegations in the report pertaining to Albanian territory, could not be verified. “We were open at all times and, this is also the stance of the previous government, that Albania does not hinder any investigation process.”
Asked whether he believed that the killing of the Kosovo Serb politician, Oliver Ivanovic, would have an impact on the dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade, Rama said: “Only if it is used as an alibi to block the talks.” He added however that from what he has seen so far, the killing does not seem to have negative consequences on Kosovo-Serbia relations. He also ruled out any possibility of Ivanovic’s death being used as pretext for unrests. “It would be an unreasonable exaggeration to say this because there is no factual element to this end. The order-givers of Ivanovic’s murder have neither Albanian nor Kosovo citizenship.”
To the question of whether Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic ever spoke about partition of Kosovo or exchange of territories, Rama said that Vucic wants to achieve a long-lasting solution but that he has not yet approached the issue with firm decision-making. “He has the will but has not yet reached a point of a final solution,” Rama said of Vucic.
