Over 205 thousand citizens against Association/Community (Koha)
The Vetevendosje Movement MP Faton Topalli, who was arrested several days ago for his role in throwing teargas in the Kosovo Assembly, argues in an opinion piece that ignoring the opposition and over 205 thousand citizens who want the annulment of recent agreement with Serbia, has brought Kosovo to a serious situation. Topalli writes, “The balance of these agreements: four-month blockade of the Assembly, 13 opposition MPs arrested, over 180 activists arrested and mistreated, policemen and citizens injured and KP raiding the offices of the largest opposition party with counter-terrorism units. Government of Kosovo is currently in the biggest crisis since 1999 and doesn’t have a solution for it. Also the President has done nothing to resolve the crisis. When she addressed the Constitutional Court she presented only a part of the problem and not the essential requirements of the opposition. On the other hand, the Constitutional Court is weakened completely from political pressure from the government to present the agreement in conformity with Kosovo’s Constitution. It is well known that the Constitutional Court under pressure from the government has brought political decisions. Mustafa’s and Thaci’s path in regards to recent agreement with Serbia is a dead end. In these conditions and circumstances, both exponents of the two parties in Kosovo would have to create opportunities to overcome the crisis. Ultimately the citizens will decide. It depends entirely on them if they will consider the will of the citizens by votes or through protests.”
